Insurance Damage Assessments
The aftermath of an insurable event (such as fire, flood or earthquake) can be a difficult time, both for the policy holders whose properties have suffered damage, and the insurers and loss adjusters having to deal with the claim. Time is often of the essence, as the policy holders look to return their property to operation, minimising business interruption time and reducing loss of earnings/loss of rent claims to their insurer.
Undertaking good quality insurance damage assessments is vital in ensuring the extent of damage caused by the event is recorded. This will be an important tool in justifying the remediation claim, and allowing remedial works to commence as soon as possible.
How can Pinnacle help?
We provide two strands to our insurance damage assessments:
We undertake detailed photographic surveys of the building to capture visible damage. Each image will be captioned to ensure the level and extent of damage is clear.
In addition, we can provide commentary on potential remedial action – including cleaning, repairs or replacement. We will also comment on the potential for non-visible damage.
We are able to move quickly and be on site within 5 days of receiving instructions – this is particularly important in flooding events where industry guidance recommends removal of linings to facilitate drying. We will advise should we consider there to be a risk of fire linings/brace linings affected by the incident, which may limit the use and/or occupation of the property, or require a more careful approach to short term strip-out / make-safe works.
We recognise that after an event, health and safety risk is likely to be higher, so will discuss with our clients the potential risks and agree a mitigation strategy prior to commencing our survey.
