Sean qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor in 1997 and is now a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He is also a Chartered member of the Institute of Directors.
Career
Sean commenced his building surveying career at Watts and Partners (now Watts Group) in London. In 2000 he moved to New Zealand and secured a senior project manager role at Beca. In 2004 he joined Prendos as a consultant building surveyor. He was made a director in 2010. Following this appointment, Sean was responsible for diversifying the company's service offerings, securing experienced and qualified staff from all corners of the globe and the subsequent growth of the company. Sean was elected managing director in 2015 and chairman in 2017.
Sean has served on numerous RICS APC panels, is a guest lecturer at the University of Auckland and sits on the board of Rosmini College.
Experience
Sean has extensive and broad experience across all facets of commercial building surveying, contract administration and project management. He has acted for large corporates in multi-million dollar dilapidations (lease reinstatement) claims, for international sovereign wealth funds during significant pre-acquisition technical due diligence instructions and project managed a wide variety of construction projects.
In addition, he has provided expert evidence to the High Court and acted as an expert witness across numerous cases,from professional negligence, defective construction, lease disputes and everything in between.
Ollie has worked as a commercial building surveyor for 17 years, 14 of which as a chartered building surveyor.
Career
Ollie started his career as a graduate surveyor at Drivers Jonas in Manchester, UK. Drivers Jonas merged with Deloitte in 2010, where he worked until joining CBRE as a senior surveyor in 2013. Over the following 9 years, he progressed to Director before moving to Auckland, NZ to join Prendos.
He has taken an active part in the RICS, hosting and speaking at training events for graduate surveyors, and was the chair of RICS working group authoring a global Professional Statement for Planned Preventative Maintenance (LTMP) surveys, published 2021.
Experience
Throughout the course of his career, he has been involved with properties in virtually every sector, with a general focus on industrial and office buildings, but also retail, leisure, manufacturing, judicial, healthcare, education, residential, hotels, student residential and more.
He has surveyed a wide variety of construction types, from modern grade A offices through to 100 year and older heritage buildings. His recent experience covers the following:
Expert Witness in relation to a claim of defective construction of new build property.
Pre-acquisition technical due diligence surveys on offices, industrial units, aged care facilities and retail.
Long term maintenance plans for healthcare, multi-unit residential (Body Corporate) and offices.
Insurance claim monitoring following Auckland Anniversary flood events.
Insurance damage assessments, project management and engineer to contract of flood damage remediation ($4m contract value).
Condition surveys of a wide range of property, including residential accommodation, science and research facilities, charity properties and industrial facilities.
Technical safety appraisals and signage surveys of forty supermarkets, inspecting elements of the properties which may be hazardous to building users.
Pre-construction condition surveys of numerous residential units prior to neighbouring development commencing.
